Panthers Fall to Canadiens, Riots Continue
Yeah, the Cats fell to the Canadiens last night. On national television. Well, Versus. You're not stunned.
Had a bit of tough news just prior to the game, so bear with me as the day goes on; gonna be lacking the usual updates, but tomorrow we'll be back with the expected pain and doubt.
Go Cats.

I know it's a Panther, but...
Sorry for the above monstrosity. I suddenly don't like myself much anymore.
Very slow news day. In the absence of something solid to research and make juvenile fun of, it's back to old reliable:

AirOil Welcomes you Aboard
A very cool log entry from Jen Sharpe of the Edmonton Oilers describes the interior amenities and services offered onboard the team's jet."The players sit at the back, the senior management in the front, and the scouts, media, web and PR folk in the middle, in that order. You don’t want to be the last one on the bus or the plane. Quite embarrassing, I hear."
That's EXACTLY what happened to Chris Pronger. Tough crowd up there.
A neat read, with the notable exception of the aircraft type (being an aviation geek, these are things I must know). As a member of the Oilers staff, at least she didn't pull the typical media response when confronted with an airplane story: it's either a Piper Cub or Boeing 747.

It's Definitely Summer: Fat-Headed Sens Take More Penalties

From the "You're Not Gonna Believe This One...Ever" department, the Regina Leader-Post is reporting on a study which recently concluded that, after examining the head-size (yes, that's correct) of players from all six Canadian NHL franchises has determined the following:
"the faces of the Ottawa Senators are dead giveaways when it comes to predicting how much time players spend in the penalty box."
I hope this was taxpayer funded.
Thanks, Kukla

Cats Acquire First-line Center!
Well, not really.
For my inaugural post, I present: Nothing!
It's August 11th, people. Other than standing idly by waiting on His Highness Lord Sundin to decide his fate, there's not much left to ponder. Unless, of course, the highly-anticipated return of Janis Sprukts to the Sunrise clan gets your goat. Playoffs, here we come!

- The Gretzky Trade 20th Anniversary Extravaganza has come and gone (though admittedly, I was intrigued by the prospect of his going to Detroit).
- The - real - Olympic Games are only a year and a half away...and on this continent, no less. Hats off to watching AHL-calibre hockey on NBC with an easy to digest three-hour time difference for those of us on the only coast that matters to western civilization.

- Anyone else really jonesing for a reprise of those completely awesome Checkers hamburger commercials featuring Rap Cat? Based on the Panthers' performance from that season, RC was 50% of the fun in watching the telecasts. Two out of three hockey-loathing roommates would agree.
- For the record, I am ecstatic about the hiring of Peter DeBoer.
- The Cory (a GREAT name, BTW) Stillman pickup was addition by, well, addition. Just getting him out of the hands of the Carolinas and Tampas of the world improves our point total by six. The guy killed us. Even if he only nets 8 goals, we have prevented an equal number from going the other way. In the division.
- Speaking of Tampa Bay:
